THEY CALL ME

coach

Each season, Girls on the Run of Northeast Indiana selects a dynamic group of coaches to lead each of our teams. Coaches are parents, teachers, school administrators, college students and other community members.  Not all of them are runners, but they are all commited to developing and celebrating our girls.

Frequently Asked Questions

When and where is in-person coach training?

For the Fall 2017 season, there will be two in-person coach training sessions (listed below).  Coaches must select ONE of these training sessions.

Sunday, August 13,  2017 from 1-5 p.m.

IPFW, Walb Union, G-21

2101 E. Coliseum Blvd.
Fort Wayne, IN 46805

Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

 Mad Anthony's Children's Hope House

7922 W Jefferson Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804

Can I coach a team with my daughter on it?

Yes. If you are a head coach or an assistant coach, your daughter will receive 75% off her registration fee across (all income levels.).

Can I choose the site where I coach?

Coaches may indicate a preference for the site at which they would like to coach. If coaches do not have a preference, we will assign them to a location in need of volunteers.

Do I have to be a runner to coach?

No.  No running experience is required.  Coaches facilitate a pre-planned curriculum (which includes workouts, stretches, and programming).  You may choose to run with your team or take a lap here and there, but it's not required!

We've actually introduced many reluctant "non-runner" coaches to running!

Will I be reimbursed for coaching expenses?

We will provide all of the curriculum and program materials.

Each team receives a site allowance. Coaches must submit all receipts related to program expenses at the end of the season and will be reimbursed for an amount not to exceed the site allowance.
