Girls on the Run of Northeast Indiana (GOTR) is a site-based program.  Various schools, churches, parks, and other organizations serve as Girls on the Run sites, and host a Girls on the Run team for a ten-week season (in either the spring (mid-March through late May) or the fall(mid-August through late October).

Hosting a site is easy.  GOTR provides the award-winning curriculum, all program materials, recruitment materials, an easy paperless registration process, liability insurance, coach training, and assistance locating and placing trained, background checked volunteer coaches (host site is required to provide at least one volunteer).

To start a GOTR site at your school/church/park, we need:

  • Commitment from host to provide GOTR the following spaces (for up to 20 girls and three volunteers), twice per week, for 75-90 minutes, for 10 weeks (this normally requires a principal, pastor, or program director’s approval).
    • Flat outdoor area for running (doesn’t have to be a quarter-mile track–an empty parking lot, soccer field, or playground will do!)
    • Indoor space for inclement weather (gym, hallway space, etc)
    • Access to restroom facilities
  • Commitment from host to allow GOTR to distribute fliers or marketing materials to girls in relevant age group
  • At least ONE (preferably two) female volunteer willing to
    • Undergo GOTR’s application process and background check
    • Serve as a coach for the 10-week season
    • Attend a GOTR coach training session
  • A site liaison (either an employee or volunteer with the host site) to help coordinate logistics (time commitment is minimal)
  • Completion of Site Application
